One way to study joy is to see what the experts have to say on the subject.  Jonathan’s American Heritage Student Dictionary defines joy as ” a feeling of great happiness or delight.”  The opposite of joy – joyless, is defined as “cheerless  or dismal.”  (Wow, been there – done that!)
